Did you Know?… That 3,505 men on 52 submarines were lost during World War II? Nearly 1 out of 5 enlisted!
On Saturday, May 13th at 11 a.m., the United States Submarine Veterans Incorporated will be hosting the Tolling of the Boats, an event that honors each of the 52 submarines lost during World War II and the 11 submarines lost before World War II and post-World War II. Our Green Country group of submarine veterans honor their lost brethren by calling out their submarine’s name and tolling the bell in memory of the sailors who are on eternal patrol. Following the tolling of each boat, the Sub Vets will place a flag on the podium dedicated to those on eternal patrol.
